Apple may intend implementing copy and paste within the iPhone, reports claim.

It emerged last week that Apple is testing iPhone Software 2.1, an update to the software for the device (and the iPod touch) which is expected to introduce stability and feature improvements.

The update, it is claimed, includes new Core Location features which could be implemented to create true GPS location sensitive applications, such as tracking direction and speed when travelling, for example.

The software also features new Push Notifications APIs that allows applications to process notifications in the background, a feature originally promised its debut in September.

Now, further reports claim the software also indicates support for cut, copy and paste operations.

We've no word yet on when iPhone Software 2.1 is expected to ship.
