Apple has begun testing the next version of its iPhone software, a report claims
Apple has quietly begun testing iPhone Software 2.2, distributing the code among beta testers, a report claims.
The software apparently restores the capability to push email to the device in the background and better GPS-functionality, enabling more accurate reporting of speed or position while in a moving vehicle, for example.
Apple's 2.1 software release entered testing in July. It contained a host of bug fixes and enhancements and drastically reduced the number of user complaints surrounding the device.
Complaints had included failing or unusable applications, unexpected call dropping, unstable 3G connections and other issues.

I totally agree with above. I'm a huge fan of everything Apple but the iPhone 3G is a dissapointment. I should have stuck with my original iPhone!

Apple's continuing addition of features and upgrades to fix and improve the iPhone are encouraging to me?
At least they have the determination and an on-going commitment to getting it right and making it better.

It should have been a lot better before release. Cash over content.

We need better bluetooth functionaly! It would be good to have a user sounds folder to bluetoothe files and the ability to send pictures to eachother over bluetooth. All apple have to do is to not intergrate the bluetooth with the built in Ipod function. Apple have their music protected, we have the ability to sned things over bluetooth. Everyones happy!

I don't understand the dissatisfaction with the iPhone 3G. I love mine. I can't imagine having to go back to my original iPhone. The GPS alone is worth it. My email is being pushed to my iPhone without a hitch. It usual shows up on my iPhone before my MacBook Pro.

My iPhone 2.1 still drops calls, and consistently happens too.

I have my Nokia back. The iPhone does not cut it. Wont be taken in by another one.
@JohnLee- the GPS is useless compared to the N95.
Fact is it seems we are beta testing it for them. They don't deserve the praise for this effort.
