Earlier this morning we brought you the first unboxing of the iPhone 3GS, now we're going a step further and taking the iPhone 3GS apart, stripping away its parts, and discovering what's on the inside.

We've teamed up with Kyle Wiens, from iFixIt.com and the iFixIt team in California, who are analysing the parts.

Here is a video interview with Kyle Wiens, from MacFixIt, recorded and interviewed by Rick Young, editor of our sister title, MacVideo.

Kyle has photographed the iPhone 3GS as it's stripped apart and we've scanned the logic board. So come with us as we discover what's inside the world's smartest smartphone.

Step 1. Thinking outside the box First things first, we got it out of the box. We've got more detailed unboxing shots here.

Step 2. A loose screw There are two screws underneath the iPhone. This makes it easier than many devices to get into.

Step 3. Suck it and see
A small suction cup is your best friend when it comes to removing the screen.

Step 4. Doing the number The are seven numbered connectors on the logic board, up from the six on the 3G.

Step 5. More numbers Connector number seven is in the lower right corner, just above the dock connector.

i wonder if you could upgrade the battery to a longer life one ? without having to use a different charger
