Elgato releases the smallest ever Freeview TV tuner for the Mac

Elgato claims the EyeTV DTT Deluxe is ‘the smallest TV tuner available’ and we’re not going to argue with that, as it’s certainly the smallest tuner we’ve ever seen.

The tuner is just a little over 2in long, 0.5in wide and a mere 0.25in thick - it would suit well-heeled owners of the MacBook Air down to the ground.

One of several features aimed at MacBook owners is the inclusion of two separate aerials. There’s a small aerial with a magnetic base that is intended for use in fixed locations, such as your home or office, where you can just set it in place and then leave it there. The second aerial is a very thin telescopic rod that measures about 2.5in long when folded up, but extends to about 6in when in use. This means that you can easily slip it into your laptop case alongside the tuner whenever you’re getting ready to travel.
