Corel has announced Painter 11 an update to its media painting and illustration software.

Corel Painter mimics traditional painting with a vast range of creative tools for the enthusiast and professional artist.

This latest version promises 40 new and enhanced features including new pressure-sensitive brushes to allow hand and brush to fluidly work as one, producing brushstrokes that are unrivalled in texture and precision, Corel says.

Enhanced brushes perform up to thirty per cent faster than in previous versions, making this the fastest, most responsive version of Painter yet adds Corel.

Colour management tools have been improved, with enhanced colour recognition when importing files from other applications, and individual colour profiles per document create greater colour accuracy for each file.

A full list of changes and comparison with Corel Painter X is available as a PDF on the Corel website.

Corel Painter 11 includes support for the entire Wacom tablet line.

Corel also now offers a range of informative video testimonials explaining the software's potential on their website including Painter Master's Andrew Jones, Cliff Nielsen, Dwayne Vance, Fay Sirkis and Jeremy Sutton.

Available for Mac and PC, Corel Painter 11 costs £263.35 for the full version and £136.85 for the upgrade, prices include VAT.

A downloadable version is available now, with boxed copies due mid-March.

Corel Painter 11 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or 10.5 or later.
