ShineOff is a one-task plug-in that is designed to remove the effects of flash or shiny lights on the face
- Manufacturer: Image Trends
- Manufacturer: Image Trends
- Pros: Simple to use, very effective and natural looking results as it fills in the flash area
- Cons: Clumsy navigator system, can’t move image around with mouse, can affect background lighting, overpriced
- Price: £33.53
- Star rating:
Described as the digital facepowder, ShineOff is a one-task plug-in that is designed to remove the effects of flash or shiny lights on the face.
The problem with any on-camera flash or flashgun is that it’s fairly harsh and often leaves glaring highlights on the skin. Even diffused studio flash can leave a tell-tale trail of white light across the forehead, cheeks and nose. The job of ShineOff, which runs as a plug-in for Photoshop, is to remove it quickly and simply.
The interface consists of the original image and a navigator box, the main image which can be toggled between before and after versions, and a shine removal slider. That’s all there is too it. Just move the slider until the facial highlights have been powdered out.
The results are effective and don’t have significant drawbacks although other highlighted areas may be evened out as well. Fairly overpriced though.
