Apple has partially answered user concerns with a newly revised document highlighting overheating issues reported by some iPhone users particularly those who have the new 3GS phone. However, Apple doesn't say if the new handset has overheating issues, which would clearly dampen potential sales and the document appears to be an update on one posted posted back in May, only now including the iPhone 3GS.
"If the interior temperature of the device exceeds normal operating temperatures, you may experience the following as it attempts to regulate its temperature: The device stops charging, display dims, weak cellular signal, temperature warning screen appears with the message 'iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it,'" Apple says in the document.
Apple suggests some fairly obvious remedies to keep your iPhone cool in hot weather.
"Store iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in a place where the temperature is between -20º and 45º C (-4º to 113º F). Don’t leave the device in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range."

"Operate iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in a place where the temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might temporarily shorten battery life or cause the device to temporarily stop working properly."
iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS comply with the safety standard for Safety of Information Technology Equipment, IEC 60950-1 says Apple. This safety standard has been adopted by many countries.

This support document is not new, it was just updated for the iPhone 3GS. We posted an article on it in May:

Sadly no support document yet about the serious Wi-Fi issue many users have found after upgrading to 3.0.

This document isn't really new. If you look at the owners manual that came with the 3Gs, its says word for word what is posted above.
Apple will never come out and directly say there is something wrong with the phone , because they would be admiting guilt and open themselves to liability and lawsuits. Im a management major, they teach us this shit in strategic management. Unless someones phone burst in flames or explodes, dont expect anything special.
The only thing Apple will do is quietly replace ppls phones with issues, to keep them happy and eliminate controversy. Sucks but thats the way it is.

This is such a non-story! Why are you posting this!? All phones have a heat limit, Apple's is perfectly reasonable. There are no 'overheating issues', just like any device don't leave it where it can get over 35 degrees! All Apple did was update this article to say it applies to the 3GS. Not newsworthy!
