According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Apple has been touting the long rumoured Apple tablet around Australian media companies in an attempt to drum up business.
According to the newspaper, Apple has sent specifications of the device to the companies in an effort to sound out whether they would be interested in delivering their content to the tablet.
None would speak about the tablet to the Sydney Morning Herald on the record.
The report does claim however: "The tablet is tipped to be a larger version of the iPhone. It is small enough to carry in a handbag but too big to fit in a pocket. It will have a touch screen and be targeted at users who mainly want to surf the web, read books and newspapers or watch movies."

Fairfax Media's director of marketing and newspaper sales in Australia, Robert Whitehead, hinted that he was aware of the upcoming device in August.
"We're continuously examining all options for extending the reach of our mastheads and we'll be very interested to see what Apple comes up with", Whitehead said.
The news follows the announcement that New York Times' Executive Editor, Bill Keller might have inadvertently confirmed the existence of the tablet in a private speech earlier this month.
Keller let slip the new device could be called the Apple Slate.

Is there already a handbag sized device for reading ebooks and listening to music Is this just going to be Apples answer to Sonys eBook reader? Are they touting for news and Magazine publishers to sell us ebook version of their products. Apple-Kindle maybe?
