Apple has placed a teaser on the UK online store announcing a special one-day shopping event this Friday - 27 November, known in the US as Black Friday, an annual day of discounts.
"Come back to the Apple Online Store this Friday for a special one-day-only shopping event. You’ll find lots of great iPod, iPhone and Mac gift ideas - all with free shipping."
"Put it in your calendar now. Until then, start by browsing the Apple Online Store to find iPod, iPhone and Mac gifts for everyone on your list."
This time last year, shoppers could pick up a new MacBook for £888.01, a saving of £60.99 from the usual £949 retail price. The 20-inch iMac was on sale for £768, a reduction of £31 from the normal SRP. Discounts on iPods, accessories and software ranged from £5 to around £10. No discount was available on the iPhone.
The 27 November is the day after Thanksgiving in the US and a big day for sales shopping – akin to Boxing Day in the UK.

Yes the Americans do get higher savings than us, they also pay less for the hardware in the first place, still any discount is a discount!

I doubt there will be big discounts this year, probably education level discounts for the regular buyer.

Hope the Magic Mouse is in the discount. I might pop along this Friday and pick one up.

I don't think I have ever seen a decent UK discount. Still cheaper to buy it from Amazon.

You do realise it's an online event only

I hadn't, but yes you're right. Okay. Looks like I might be clicking over to the store on Friday.
The Magic Mouse is £70 on Amazon for some strange reason. £55 on the Apple store.

UK Apple consumers always get poor deals, suspect any discount will only translate into similar prices already seen on Amazon.

I just could never justify that much on a mouse, no matter how "Magic" they thinks it is.

Hi. A quick question: I'm a Danish student; will I get an additional discount on top of my 'regular' educational level discount on the 27th? Do any of you other students out there have experiences from shopping on the Apple Store on that special Friday back in 2008 or earlier?

IT's not just online - I've had a reaser email from Apple which says:
Shopping event is available at the Apple Online Store and 0800 048 0408 only on 27 November from 00:01 to 23:59 GMT. Selected offers also available at UK Apple Retail Stores; not all sale products available in all stores. Sale prices are limited to stock on hand and while supplies last.

Like Ron asked, will the discount be placed upon the education store prices?

Another story here. The Apple forums are not telling a good story either:
