Steve Jobs died of respiratory failure caused by the spread of a metastatic pancreas neuroendocrine tumour, according to his death certificate.
The certificate was filed in Santa Clara County, California and lists Jobs' occupation as a high-tech entrepreneur. No post-mortem was carried out and Jobs was buried in a private ceremony last Friday.
Jobs died at home in Palo Alto, California, on Wednesday 5 October after a long battle with a rare form of pancreatic cancer, which he first announced that he was suffering from in 2004. In 2009, he had a liver transplant though in August this year was forced to step down from his position as Apple CEO.
Since January 2011, Jobs had been on a medical leave of absence, only returning to front-line duties for the launch of the iPad 2. Tim Cook, at the time the chief operating officer of Apple, took over Jobs' day-to-day duties and after Jobs' resignation took over as CEO.

A private memorial for Apple employees will take place at the company's campus in Cupertino on 19 October, though no pbulic services will take place.

"... though in August this year was forced to step down from his position as Apple CEO."
Pretty shoddy writing right there. If one was coming here without the knowledge, that statement might imply that he was forced out by the BoD. It was entirely his own decision to step down.
