Taking the lead from Apple, PC manufacturers are now favouring metal chassis for their laptops. However, according to reports, there is a shortage of slim metal panels in the supply chain and Apple is to blame.

To make matters worse for the beleaguered PC manufacturers who are ditching plastic shells in favourable of more popular metal cases, Apple has booked up most of the capacity of the supply chain.

According to a report on DigiTimes, despite investing in new CNC machines the two major metal chassis makers, Catcher Technology and Foxconn are unlikely to fulfil all demand up to the end of 2012.

You mean the PC world are trying to catch-up because as usual why provide a decent product, when you can just ship the same crap until the competition gets to good.

Tough for them!
