Apple today unveiled a 13in MacBook Pro with Retina display at the San Jose California Theatre, about a 15-minute drive from Cupertino. Apple's Phil Schiller took to the stage to end months of speculation about a smaller Retina MacBook.
The 13in MacBook Pro with Retina display joins Apple's 15in model, which was launched at WWDC in June. The new MacBook will be available to buy today. (See also: Apple's new 13in MacBook Pro with Retina display pricing and tech specs)
The new MacBook runs Apple's Mountain Lion operating system and has a display with more pixels per inch than Apple claims the human eye can differentiate between.
It's Retina display has a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels, which makes 4,096,000 pixels in total. The world's second highest resolution notebook, behind the 15in model. It has almost twice as many pizels as a 1080p HDTV.
The new MacBook Pro is 0.75 inches thin, and weighs just 3.57 lbs. It is the lightest MacBook Pro ever.
It has MagSafe 2, two Thunderbolt ports, USB 3, headphone, microphones, an SD card reader, HDMI out and a second USB 3 port.
The 13in Retina MacBook Pro has an Intel dual-core i5 or i7 Ivy Bridge processor, Intel HD Graphics 4000, up to 8GB of RAM, up to 768GB of flahs, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and up to seven hours battery life.
Apple has also updated lots of its apps on the Mac App Store.
