Apple appears to have quietly withdrawn its UK-specific series of 'Get A Mac' ads.

Based on the US 'Get A Mac' ad spots, the UK series featured David Mitchell and Robert Webb of Channel 4's Peep Show - but ran into a hail of criticism when the ads were introduced. Chief among the criticisms was that the PC character seemed much more lovable than that of the Mac character in the UK ads.

Bad response to the UK series of ads saw Apple's "buzz" factor decline six points according to the YouGov BrandIndex, itself calculated by conducting direct interviews. Critics claimed the depiction of the Mac character reinforced the opinion that Mac users are a little smug.

Apple appears to have taken these criticisms to heart, as the page that once linked to its UK ads collection has now been withdrawn, and points to a stationary page that proclaims the advantages of Macs above Windows.
