Carphone Warehouse says Mac sales claims are rumour and speculation
Apple may be closing in on a deal with Carphone Warehouse under which the latter firm will begin selling Macs in-store across the UK.
AppleInsider is claiming that Mac-related 'placeholder' items have appeared within the Carphone Warehouse internal computer system, prompting speculation on an such a deal.
The speculation continues to claim the deal to sell Macs in-store may be in place in time for this year's Christmas shopping period. A presence within Carphone Warehouse stores would massively increase Apple's footprint for the Mac at retail - it has 800 stores.
Carphone Warehouse recently purchased a stake in US high street electronics reseller, Best Buy, and is also Apple's high street partner for the iPhone from O2.
A representative from Carphone Warehouse declined to comment, saying the company doesn't comment on "rumour or speculation".

Bad, bad idea! Carphone Warehouse should stick to what they know. Selling an iPhone is completely different to selling a Mac, and what happens if the customer has a problem later on, can we expect the same level of service with Carphone Whorehouse as an Apple Retail Store? I doubt that very much! I'm all for selling more Macs on the high street, but the after sales support needs to be there too. Apple needs to re-think this deal, it could easily do their brand more harm than good.

So how long have you worked at the Apple Store Stevie?

According to their recent TV ads, Carphone Warehouse "believe in laptops for everyone". So that should include Mac fans, right?
A free Macbook when you sign up with an iPhone + wireless data plan would make a lot of sense, echoing similar deals with other mobile internet services.

There are over one hundred non-Apple stores selling Mac's on the UK high street. 99% of them are Apple Premium Resellers, meaning they are qualified service partners and Apple Authorised.
If they can do it, Carphone Warehouse can do it.

My experiences of Carphone Warehouse have been nothing short of appalling. Why on earth would apple want them to try and sell Mac computers and put people off Macs before they've even bought one?!

sorry but carphone is britons biggest mobile retailer. so ari must be one of a small number of unhappy customers. having worked at several mobile retailers . the stores tend to get the blame for network problems. network staff use them as scape goats. so bring on the macs i am sure carphones style of selling will put he correct laptop mac or windows in the right hands.
