Apple releases firmware update for glass trackpad to fix unrecognised clicks
Apple has released a firmware update for the MacBook that promises to fix the problem of unrecognised clicks on the glass trackpad.
The issue of unresponsive trackpads was brought to light by Mac users on the Macworld Web site and Apple's forums.
When Apple released the new notebooks in October, one of the new features was a completely redesigned trackpad. The multitouch glass trackpad has a 39 percent larger tracking area than before and the entire trackpad will act as button, rather than having a separate button like the previous notebooks.
The problem is that many of clicks on the new trackpad were not recognized by the computer. Even though the trackpad made the clicking sound, nothing would happen on the screen, which led to a lot of frustration from users purchasing the new notebooks.
According to notes provided with the update, when the installation of the update is complete, the updater app will start automatically. The update is available via the software update mechanism in Mac OS X.

I have been usingthe trackpad update for 20 mins and, so far, it seems to be a major improvement. No stuck cursor, no missed targets due to finger smudging on click, and no lost cursor.

Would have been nice if it had worked from day one. Mine nearly went out the window a few times!

But when will apple fix the trackpad behavior in Windows under Boot Camp (no left/right click on the trackpad, just with help of the button on the previous generation MB)?
