2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum is without doubt a fantastic game, but Mac users unwilling to Boot Camp their machine and install Windows have as yet been unable to play it. This will all change from October 13, as veteran Mac development and conversion specialists Feral Interactive bring the game to OS X.
"Batman: Arkham Asylum is a game where all the individual elements, story, gameplay, design, music and voice acting all combine superbly to create an extraordinary experience," said David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive.
The game will be available directly from Feral's website as well as the Mac App Store. It'll cost £29.99 -- rather steep for a two year old game, though Mac rereleases often remain at a relatively high price point compared to their PC brethren for some time. You can preorder now direct from Feral and find out more about the game on the official mini-site. And, of course, you can check out our review.
Judging by this release, Mac owners can likely expect Arkham City to arrive some time in 2013. Everyone else will be playing it next month.

Perhaps the focus on this article is UK Mac users, but here in the US, my son has been playing Arkham Asylum for months on our Mac using the OnLive application and service. It runs beautifully under both Snow Leopard and Lion. No Windows required!

OnLive is really interesting (for those UK users who haven't heard - it streams games over the internet and you play them live without installation).
Technically we could argue that it isn't really available for Mac but a PC game streaming into a Mac. Although it's still a cool way to go about gaming on a Mac.
It is only available in the US and Canada at the moment though. Not here in the UK. Can't wait for it to roll out worldwide.
