Beta testers of the Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.1 update have revealed that it improves battery life for Apple’s laptops.
A developer told Softpedia that prior to the update the battery in their MacBook showed a battery life of just over 4 hours after a full charge, but following the update that figure increased to 8 hours.
Following the launch of Mountain Lion in July there have been reports that the update caused battery life issues. The latest beta update suggests that Apple is working on a fix that should return battery life levels to the expected levels.
Other issues with Mountain Lion included a sound problem with the MacBook Air and Thunderbolt displays and networking issues.
