Apple has admitted that it's not going to have iTunes 11 ready to launch this month. The company has pushed back the launch of the updated software and media store to November.
Announcing the delay spokesman Tom Neumayr told Cnet: "The new iTunes is taking longer than expected and we wanted to take a little extra time to get it right."
He promised that the new iTunes, with a "dramatically simpler and cleaner interface" would be ready to ship in November.
Apple's "unexpected delay" may have been connected to the news this morning that Scott Forstall, who headed up the iOS team, is to leave the company. Apple Insider notes that Eddy Cue, who is responsible for iTunes, is to take on some of Forstall's iOS duties, which may explain the delay.
