Free application lets iPhone users archive and review SMS messages
Micromat has announced the beta release of its freeware utility Syphone for use with Apple's iPhone.
The free application is installed on a user's Mac and does not alter the iPhone in any way. It allows the user to view, save, and back up their SMS messages.
Users view SMS messages offline in an iChat-like interface with selectable colours. The application integrates with Address Book and allows users to see the number of text messages sent and received for each contact. Multiple iPhones are supported.
Micromat president Jeff Baudin said: "Syphone represents our first endeavour into the iPhone product market. This was a function we all wanted for ourselves and so we decided to make the best SMS archiving utility we could."
Syphone is a free utility that's available for download now. Micromat may develop a paid for version of the application, with extra features.
