Microsoft's Mac Business Unit (Mac BU) has released a free version of Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) Client for Mac v2.0 and new software designed to convert documents and presentations created in new versions of Office into a Mac-compatible format

A Universal application, Remote Desktop Connection for Mac enables users to remotely connect to computers running Windows Vista. It offers an improved user interface, customizable preferences and support for multiple sessions. It requires at least a G4 Mac running at 500MHz or faster.

The company also introduced a beta version of its Office Open XML File Format Converter. This software lets Mac users open files created using the latest version of Office using Office 2004 or Office X for Mac.

The beta will expire on 31 December and requires Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later.

Both applications are available for download from Microsoft's MacTopia website.
