UK online digital media company 7Digital has launched the fourth generation of its content delivery platform.

The upgraded service now offers several new features for content owners seeking to sell their media online, including support for payment by text message and the capacity to use 7digital's player widget to insert tracks on social-networking profiles and blogs.

The widget allows artists to make their digital music available anywhere on the web — including their own MySpace pages and blogs. Tracks can be sold in a variety of formats through the service, including the open MP3 format.

The service also now supports payments through PayPal and BT Click and Buy and offers a voucher system for track, album and video sales.

Ben Drury, managing director, 7digital, said: “Because we understand what content owners want and need to effectively promote and sell their music and videos, we have been able to develop a service that will make it easier than ever before for consumers to buy and content owners to sell.

The company confirmed that over 750,000 consumers have downloaded from a 7digital service so far.
