All Things D's Peter Kafka speculates that Apple might have Facebook on its shopping list, after all, Apple has $51 billion in cash reserves.

That might explain why Apple CEO Steve Jobs invited Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg round for dinner the other day.

During the conference call with analysts regarding Apple's financial results CEO Steve Jobs was asked what he planned to do with Apple's $51 billion in the bank. Jobs said: "We strongly believe that one or more very strategic opportunities may come along that we're in unique opportunity to take advantage of because of our cash."

At least if Apple bought Facebook they would thoroughly test the Facebook apps, something that Sophos has suggested Facebook should do more thoroughly.
