Apple has opened the books for registration for this year's Apple Summer Camp at its UK retail outlets.

Available at all the company's UK retail stores, Apple's Summer Camp Workshops each consists of two and a half hours of hands-on learning using Macs. The workshops are recommended for children aged between 8- and 12-years, and the scheme begins on 30 July.

Four workshops are available, covering the following topics: podcasting, iWeb and iPhoto; Music and Movies. You can sign-up for two workshops in total.

Campers must bring along a signed Summer Camp Permission Statement (PDF) and a copy of their registration confirmation to attend.

All campers under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the Summer Camp Workshop. The Apple Store will supply computers and sample content, but campers are free to bring along their favourite photos or music to use in the projects.

Campers will receive a CD/DVD with their project burned on it, a field journal and field guide.
