Apple has confirmed the dates for Apple Teacher Institute 2008.

The annual event takes place from 1-4 April this year, once again at Cheltenham College in Gloucestershire. Apple is accepting pre-registrations from attendees.

Apple Teacher Institute is a four-day residential event for teachers that offers attendees a range of different in-depth learning opportunities, from basic technical knowledge to leadership skills.

The company describes the event as offering, "a unique opportunity to develop the ideas you have already had about digital creativity, to see how others are using these new tools with great benefits in learning gains, and to understand the pedagogy that underpins the excitement of digital media."

Topics covered include: digital storytelling; podcasting; creating content using digital video cameras and editing software; exploring the use of still images, music and animation; sharing digital projects through multiple devices and the web; sharing of experiences and the development of skills in subject and/or age group-relevant projects.

Apple has enjoyed singular success in European education markets in recent years, gaining 19.6 per cent marketshare across the territory late last year.

Apple's director of EMEA education markets, Herve Marchet, explains: "We try to show how new technology can be applied positively within the learning experience, so when teachers return to their schools they can apply these solutions, regardless of platform."
