Apple’s next iPad could have a widescreen display, according to an analyst.

Analyst Paul Mueller has suggested that Apple’s 16:9 aspect ratio iPad is in its prototype stages, according to “at least three people close to Apple,” reports the Examiner.

“I have talked to at least three people close to Apple who say that there are new iPad prototypes that have a 16:9 aspect ratio. They aren’t talking about the upcoming iPad mini either,” said Mueller.

The Examiner spoke to its source from Apple, who said: “I haven’t really heard much about the iPad 4 but it appears that Apple is no longer against widescreen devices.” This has been demonstrated by the iPhone 5, which has a taller, 4in display with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
