More reports have emerged on Apple's plans to offer a digital platform for newspapers and publishers.
Bloomberg, citing "two people familiar with the matter," claims the digital newsstand will be separate from Apple’s iTunes App Store and iBooks app and be targeted at iPad users.
The success of the newsstand will likely depend on how Apple and publishers agree to share subscription revenue. Apple is trying to insert itself as a middleman that doesn’t exist in other industries one analyst told Bloomberg.
The business focused site believes Apple could be ready to unveil the newsstand early next year when the 2nd-generation iPad will likely be released.
Bloomberg adds: "Apple is developing software to make it easier and cheaper to create digital versions of magazines and newspapers, with extras such as high- resolution videos integrated with stories, one person said."
"By offering tools to simplify the process, the company aims to attract publishers to the storefront, the person said."
