Sunshine Food contains 65 brand new recipes, which are searchable by ingredients, dietary requirements, and cooking time.
According to the makers, unique features include the ability to cook multiple recipes at once, enabling users to prepare a starter, main course and dessert at the same time.
Additionally, the app features eleven of Levi’s music tracks and five bespoke videos, including Levi singing the Reggae Reggae Sauce song and demonstrating how to smash open a coconut.
Levi said: "I am very excited about having my own app. A lot of my fans are the younger iPhone generation and I want to get them cooking. An app seemed like an obvious way to do that."
"People are always asking me for great recipe ideas using Reggae Reggae sauces, so we made sure there are recipes in the app to inspire the sauce fans. I hope this app makes people cook, dance and smile at the same time. Let’s get the “Rasta’rant” going in your kitchen."
Rather than select a traditional book publisher to develop the app, Levi decided to do his app as an independent, selecting iPhone developer Touch Fantastic, best known for the Dishy iPhone app, to help develop Levi Roots Sunshine Food.
Founded in 2008, Touch Fantastic is a Brighton based software development company, focussed entirely on Apple's portable devices.
Available from the Apple iTunes App Store, Levi Roots Sunshine Food costs £3.99 and requires the iOS 3.1 Software Update or later.
Levi Roots won investment to market his Reggae Reggae Sauce on Dragons' Den. Since then, he has successfully expanded his brand into a range of other sauces and food products. Levi has published three cookery books, and fronted his own BBC2 series, 'Caribbean Food Made Easy,' And released his latest album in 2009. Levi is also a popular motivational speaker, giving talks on education and entrepreneurship.
