Facebook has hired a former user interface design manager from Apple.
Chris Weeldreyer is now Product Design Manager at Facebook, he left Apple, where he was UI Design Manager, this February, according to Cnet.
Facebook has also picked up former Apple engineers who had worked on the iPhone, as well one who worked on the iPad, to work on a new Facebook phone, according to reports.
The recent hires suggest that agreements not to poach each other’s staff are no longer in play. Between 2005 and 2007 Apple, Google, Intel and Adobe are said to have entered into "do not cold call" bilateral agreements whereby each placed the employees of the other in a "do not cold call" list with instructions to recruiters not to "cold call" these employees. This practice held back career development and suppress compensation, and as a result, the companies in question are currently being sued in an antitrust case.
