Former Apple executives implicated in the company's stock options accounting debacle may face Federal prosecution.

A Reuters report states that prosecutors are "strongly considering" criminal charges against former executives of Apple, Broadcom and KLA-Tencor.

The regulators are also preparing a case against former officers of internet security company McAfee and defence contractor Engineered Support Systems.

Former executives of Monster Worldwide, Brocade Communications Systems and Comverse Technology have also faced charges.
