Germany's biggest Apple retailer is fielding 1,000 enquiries on purchasing an iPhone every day, Reuters reports.

The device isn't expected to go on sale in Germany until the end of the year, but 57,000 interested German consumers have already registered for information on when the device ships, the head of retailer Gravis, Archibald Horlitz, said.

Horlitz added that 58 per cent of those enquiring are willing to change mobile network in order to get their hands on an iPhone.

Vodafone, T-Mobile and O2 have all been named as potential network partners for the iPhone, with most industry observers now agreeing that Apple will work with multiple networks in Europe.
