iPad, iPhone and iPod touch owners are 30 per cent more likely to use their device to make purchases online than those using gadgets running Android, according to a new report from research firm Forrester.
Forrester's survey of 58,000 US respondents found that iOS users are around 30 per cent more likely to buy something using their mobile device than Android users, and are also about 15 per cent more likely to carry out product research using their device.
Despite Apple iOS's position at the top of the shopping list, companies are continuing to focus their attention on both iOS and Android, according to Forrester, which found that 99 per cent of online business professionals are planning to launch a native or hybrid iOS app by the end of the year, and 96 per cent are planning to do the same for Android. Other mobile platforms like BlackBerry and Windows Mobile are only being targeted by the businesses with big budgets, though.
Forrester found that 41 per cent of businesses have a budget of around $500,000 (£320,000) to spend on mobile, with 56 per cent having a less than $1million mobile budget.
