Reports claim that a new iPad 5 will feature a thinner and lighter design that will have a thinner bezel. However, earlier claims that it will launch this month have been shelved after it emerged that it will not enter production in July or August, according to Taiwan sources.

Rumours had suggested that the iPad 5 could launch this month, however DigiTimes sources suggest that production on the 9.7in iPad will start in the July-August timeframe.

According to that report, LG Display and Sharp will provide the display, the ITO film will be provided by Nitto Denko and Teijn, and the touch panels will be assembled by TPK.

DigiTimes source claims yield rates for these components will be "a major concern for smooth production." Any issues may cause the device to be delayed and not launch until later this year.

The forth generation iPad launched last November.
