iPhone owners are being warned to beware an attack which can temporarily prevent their device from functioning.

SecurityFocus warns of a denial of service attack which can cause the iPhone to freeze. The attack begins when a user visits a webpage designed to contain the attack.

That page puts code onto the iPhone which then consumes all available system memory in order to induce a kernel panic, which renders the device useless, until restored.

The security researchers also warn that it may be possible for attackers to use this attack to force iPhones to execute remote code, MacNN reports.
