Samsung might have just launched what it is pitching as an iPhone killer, but it looks like the iPhone is killing it on Twitter with more than 12 times as many tweets.

However, according to analysis of the tweets the Samsung focused tweeters are more influential, and most likely based in Mumbai, Nairobi, Manila, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, while iPhone tweeters tend to be from Paris, Madrid and Jakarta.

Forbes writes that Samsung's Galaxy S4 got 230,000 tweets in the four days following its launch, with those 230k tweets influencing 32 million people, but in the same period the iPhone was tweeted about 2.9 million times (potentially reaching 180 million people).

"What’s more it looks as though a portion of the activity around the Samsung S4 came from fake accounts, running scripts," writes Forbes.

Forbes writer Larry Magid explains that he used Peek Analytics to compile the date. He used the tool to establish how influential the tweeters are. According to the findings "Samsung’s network of fans has a pull of about 4.3," meaning that they have 43 times the influence of normal Twitter users. In comparison Apple’s fans were less influential in numerical terms at 2.7. He was also able to evaluate the types of people tweeting and found that iPhone tweeters tended to be in music, fashion, technology or marketing while S4 tweeters were probably in software and telecommunications.

He also determined that the interest in the iPhone was strongest in Paris, Madrid and Jakarta. The S4 interest peeked in Mumbai, Nairobi, Manila, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
