Apple's latest iPod shuffle is proving itself in Christmas season sales, a report finds.

According to AppleInsider, the diminutive £55 iPod shuffle is selling at a rate that's twice as fast as last year. However, this popularity is not confined to shuffles, a glance at the stock in any high-street iPod retailer shows strong sales across the range.

The report quotes recent data which shows the iPod shuffle selling approximately twice as many units in November as it achieved in the same month one year ago.

The data indicates that the fifth-generation iPod is slightly ahead of the shuffle, accounting for 28 per cent of sales to the iPod shuffle's 21 per cent, but that the shuffle could pull ahead by the end of the year. However, the iPod nano leads the field, accounting for 51 per cent of iPod sales.
