The US has imposed a set of trade sanctions on North Korea, blocking the sale of Macs and iPods to the country.

The sanctions reflect the Bush government's displeasure with the country's recent nuclear weapons tests. A huge list of luxury items — the majority of which are beyond the reach of the country's largely impoverished population — have also been banned.

These include: cognac, jet skis, Rolex watches, cars, cigarettes and more. The sanctions are being coordinated with the UN.

Many of the items on the list are claimed to be the kind of luxuries enjoyed by North Korean leader Kim Jong II.
