Band Maroon 5 have stolen a record on iTunes with the album, It Won't Be Soon Before Long, which seems set to break existing iTunes sales records.

The Grammy-winning band sold over 101,000 albums through iTunes in the US in one week including over 50,000 digital pre-orders.

"This is an exciting milestone for iTunes with over 100,000 copies of the album sold during its first week," said Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of iTunes.

The album's first single, Makes Me Wonder, broke a Billboard Hot 100 Chart record in early in May when it jumped to number one from number 64 in a week, fuelled by sales of 243,500 downloads.
