Microsoft will rent movies and sell TV shows online to Xbox Live subscribers, the company confirmed last night.

The company will begin offering these for sale from 22 November in the US, Reuters explains. Movies will be sold in standard and high definition formats, the report claims.

Customers who download a movie will have two weeks in which to watch it, after which it will time out.

Viewers will need to own an Xbox 360 to use the service.

Zune users will also be able to stream their content to the Xbox.
