Parallels has announced the availability of Parallels Desktop 6 for Mac.
Parallels offers users a chance to run a Windows based OS and Windows only applications and games on an Intel based Mac.
Parallels Desktop 6 for Mac promises over 80 new and enhanced features including running 40 per cent faster than the previous version.
New to the latest release is Spotlight integration allowing users to easily and quickly find Windows applications and files using Apple's built in search function.
Also new is the ability to use Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts in Windows applications, and apply Mac OS X Parental Controls to Windows applications.
Parallels Desktop 6 for Mac adds support for 5.1 surround sound for immersive gaming, music and videos, and Virtual Machine encryption for protecting important and sensitive files and documents. The latest release also offers enhanced 3D graphics for PC only games and 3D rendering software.
The update includes for the first time a dedicated iPad application, which gives users access to Windows based applications from a Mac anywhere and remotely control Parallels virtual machines.
The application offers a chance to remotely start, stop, and reset, pause, suspend, and resume virtual machines.
Also new is Parallels Desktop Switch to Mac Edition, which adds in-depth on-demand interactive tutorials and a high speed USB cable for copying files over.
Parallels is available now in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, with Japanese and Russian to follow.
Parallels Desktop 6 for Mac has a SRP of £64.99, while users on any earlier version of Parallels can upgrade for £34.99. For those in education, Parallels Desktop 6 for Mac costs £49.99.
Parallels Desktop Switch to Mac Edition costs £79.99.
