Photographs of an alleged iPhone 5 battery have emerged on the web, comparing it to the battery found in the iPhone 4S.

The battery, which is said to be a ‘perfect fit’ for the leaked iPhone 5 chassis, is almost half an inch taller than the iPhone 4S, and is 1-2mm thinner, according Apple repair technicians iResQ who leaked the photos on Tuesday.

The report claims that the new battery is .160oz lighter than the iPhone 4S’s battery, at .800oz. The battery claims to have an output of 3.8V/5.45hWhr, compared to the iPhone 4S’s 3.7V/5.3Whr.

iResQ also points out that the connector is on the opposite side of the battery to the iPhone 4S’s and has a different design.

It is expected that Apple will unveil the iPhone 5 at its special event on 12 September, which the company issued official invites for on Tuesday.
