On Tuesday, social photo sharing site Pinterest announced that it was releasing versions of its mobile app for iPad and Android devices.
One of Pinterest’s founders, Evan Sharp, said at a cocktail party at its San Francisco office that the iPad app was designed with its large screen in mind, making it easy for users to pin things.
Launched in 2010, Pinterest allows users to create lists of things they find interesting and share them by pinning them on their board. In February, Pinterest came in third, just behind Facebook and Twitter in terms of social network popularity in the US. It also reportedly attracted 21.5 million visitors in the week ending 28 January 2012, according to Mashable.
Until now, it was only available on the web or via an iPhone app. The iPhone app has been updated for increased stability and speed, according to the company. Both apps are available in the app store.
