An authorised biography of Apple CEO Steve Jobs can be pre-ordered online now.

Apple Insider notes that iSteve: The Book of Jobs, published by Simon & Schuster, is now available to pre-order from Amazon.com.

Those in the UK can pre-order the title from Amazon.co.uk for £18.99. However, there's no guarantees about when the book will actually be sent, with Amazon listing a release date of 6 March 2012, but noting: "This title has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives."

It will be available as a hardback or an audiobook. It is written by Walter Isaacson, who has also written biographies of Albert Einstein and Benjamin Franklin.

"From bestselling author Walter Isaacson comes the landmark biography of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. In iSteve: The Book of Jobs, Isaacson provides an extraordinary account of Jobs' professional and personal life," the item's description reads.

"Drawn from three years of exclusive and unprecedented interviews Isaacson has conducted with Jobs as well as extensive interviews with Jobs' family members, key colleagues from Apple and its competitors, iSteve is the definitive portrait of the greatest innovator of his generation," it continues.

An unauthorised biography of Jobs appeared in 2005, called "iCon Steve Jobs: The Greatest Second Act in the History of Business," and was written by Jeffrey Young and William Simon.

Apple responded by removing all titles by publisher Wiley & Sons from its retail stores, though this only served to fuel interest in the book, with Wiley & Sons doubling the print run.

Jobs will briefly return from his current leave of absence from Apple to deliver the keynote address at WWDC 2011 today.
