A rowdy crowd of 500 Italian Mac users greeted the opening of Apple's newest European retail store last Saturday.

According to the well-travelled IFOAppleStore website, a "soccer-style" crowd of enthusiasts formed a scrum in front of the store seconds after the RomaEst shopping centre it is situated in were opened that day.

The store's full complement of 1,000 promotional T-shirts had all been snapped-up within an hour of the shop opening, the cash tills had queues.

The rabid crowd of highly-enthusiastic Mac users were greeted by cheers and applause from the staff.
