Sennheiser has confirmed its high-end noise-cancelling over-the-ear PXC 450 NoiseGard 2.0 headphones will ship next month.

Introduced at the US CES trade show, the £299.99 headphones offer several distinctive features, including intelligent push-to-talk controls which can accurately determing the difference between speech and background noise.

The feature also turns the music down slightly when enabled, so you can speak and listen without shouting.

The company claims its comfortable headphones (which fold-up for travel) are capable of removing 90 per cent of background noise, and points out that they do not require proprietary batteries but draw power from easily available AAA batteries. (Each battery offers 20-hours of use).

Additional features include a soft fade-in and fade-out with power switch, Sennheiser patented Duofol diaphragms for audio clarity, deep bass, and all controls are accessible on the right side earpiece.
