Swiss iPod buyers will have to pay tax on their iPods following a decision by a Federal Court there.
A law imposing a tax on such devices was originally scheduled to enter the statute books in March 2006, but the levy imposition was delayed while various groups protested the measure.
The court has decided to uphold the tax, which will see a levy of anywhere between SFr10 to SFr30 imposed on a slew of audio devices.
An even larger tax in the range of SFr90 will be applied to video recording devices using digital technology.
Proceeds of the tax are to be distributed to artists by royalty collection organisation, Suisa.
An industry association, representing such groups as Apple and Sony, said the taxes were too high, in addition to being unfair.
