Yamaha has launched the Cube, a compact iPod speaker system.

The £99 system measures 9cm per side, the company says. Yamaha has leveraged its audio technologies to ensure the small device packs an audio reproduction punch that goes beyond its size.

The company has also developed a new technology it calls Swing Radiator Bass (SD-Bass). According to the company, the technology "maximises internal energy within the enclosure, producing the sort of deep and powerful bass that would normally be impossible from such a small unit".

The speaker system includes a 3cm Titanium speaker cone and a digital amplifier. It's controlled by a single button, situated at the system's top.

Yamaha's Cube also has a model number, the NX-A01.
