Wed, 26 Oct 2005 Video iPod spawns new digital gold rush
Yet another industry has stepped in to seize the content opportunity of the video-enabled iPod - this time a stock-footage library.
Showfootage.com has made thousands of videoclips for portable video players available for sale and download from its website. Prices start at €0.99 (c.£0.67). Available clips include flickering candles, tropical beaches, fireworks and computer animations.
Showfootage.com also features a free "clip of the week" that users can subscribe to as a podcast using iTunes.
The move reflects the stirrings of a new digital gold rush, as multiple industries consider exploring the new content opportunity inherent in the video-enabled iPod.
