This week's collection of Apple rumours begins with news of an iPod ad that's visible from outer space.

The depicted iPod is contained within the small, square, white area at the centre of the map.

Allegedly, the gigantic iPod ad has been constructed on an abandoned mineral mine in Australia. It's said to stretch across one million square yards.

The land is reported to have been won by Apple CEO Steve Jobs in a poker game he managed to squeeze in somewhere between running Apple and Pixar.

However, some bloggers have noted that the TerraServer database has satellite pictures of the same location taken on January 1, 1999, before the iPod launched - and a similar structure is visible then.

Apple celebrates its 30th birthday this Saturday on April 1.
