Apple may launch a new iPod nano and accompanying movie rental service next month at its Worldwide Developers Conference, a report claims.

Think Secret claims it knows of Apple's plans. It reports that Apple CEO Steve Jobs will announce the new service during his keynote speech on August 7.

Walt Disney, Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures, and Warner Bros have all signed to the service, and Apple is speaking to other major movie houses, according to the report.

What's critical is that the service will offer movies to rent, not to own, showing the movie houses have prevailed against Apple's attempt to launch a download-to-own movie service.

A second report from the same publication claims a revised iPod nano will be revealed at WWDC. This will offer higher capacities and be available in multiple colours. The report also speculates on future revisions of Apple's 5G iPod.
