Intel is working with movie, music, and game providers across the planet to make sure services work with the living room computer concept behind its future Viiv products.

Computers integrating Viiv seem set to ship in early 2006, perhaps as soon as January.

Intel has not commented on whether its long-sought new PC partner Apple is to be part of the Viiv scheme.

With a clear new focus on the digital home, Apple will begin migrating its platform to Intel processors next year.

Recent rumours have suggested Apple will launch a Mac mini integrating home multimedia capabilities at Macworld Expo, San Francisco next month.

Viiv PCs will offer consumers a high-quality experience, integrating cool-running processors capable of streaming content across the home. They will also offer extremely fast start-ups - users will just need to push a button to use the devices instantly.

Content companies already signed-up for Viov accreditation include: TiVO, Afendis, LoveFilm.com, British Sky Broadcasting, MovieLink, Telecom Italia, VirginMega, Ubisoft Entertainment, Adobe Systems, Ulead Systems and Sonic Solutions.
